Make a deal with the devil and you might get what you want, but will it be what you need?
Jennifer Sylvester wants one thing, and that one thing is NOT to be Tennessee’s reigning Banana Cake Queen. Ever the perpetual good girl and obedient daughter, Jennifer is buckling under the weight of her social media celebrity, her mother’s ambitions, and her father’s puritanical mandates. Jennifer is officially desperate.
And desperate times call for Cletus Winston.
Cletus Winston is a puzzle wrapped in a mystery covered in conundrum sauce, and now he’s in a pickle. Despite being convinced of his own omniscience, extortion by the exalted Banana Cake Queen of Green Valley has taken him completely by surprise. So... what’s a maniacal mastermind to do?
Likely, the last thing you expect.
'Beard Science' is the third book in the Winston Brothers series, is a full-length romantic comedy novel, and can be read as a standalone.
I still can’t figure out how Penny Reid manages to simultaneously make me laugh and cry while reading her books. She has this way of making me FEEL everything that her characters are feeling at any given moment. Me saying that doesn’t even really do justice to the feeling I get in my gut while reading her books. While I’m reading I can’t wait to see what’s in store for me and when I’m finished I don’t want to let go.
All along I’ve known that Cletus was probably going to be my favorite Winston brother but I had no idea just how absolutely I would love him. He’s sneaky and underhanded but with the best intentions. I loved seeing his careful control of all things get shaken up by Jennifer.
I was heartbroken for Jennifer and the way that her family treated her and the things she went through growing up. I was so happy to see her finally coming into her own with a little help from Cletus and the rest of the Winston family.
Cletus and Jennifer were a perfectly imperfect match.
My favorite romances to read are friends to lovers, second chance romance, and lifelong love stories. I read mostly YA, NA and contemporary but I've been known to enjoy a good erotica romance now and again. I enjoy sex in books but it's not required for me to enjoy a story. Too much sex can be worse than none, in my opinion.
I don't really enjoy books with love triangles and/or cheating, and I don't read a lot of paranormal/fantasy or suspense books.
On any given day you'll find me camped out on my couch with my Kindle in one hand, a Mountain Dew in the other, the tv on in the background (Food Network or Hallmark Channel) with one or both of my kids and my husband trying to get me to answer them about when we might eat again.
