Micah Preston is Hollywood’s #1 sex symbol.
A rich and famous actor who has sworn off any serious relationships, the playboy is the media’s favorite bachelor.
But he wasn’t anybody when Maddie Bauer met him seven years ago. Then he was just the hot guy at the party who gave her an amazing orgasm and never called her again.
Now her job as a camera assistant has landed her on the set of his latest movie, and despite her vow to ignore his charm, she finds him pulling her focus.
She just has to make it through the shoot without landing in his bed. But when the legendary bad boy sets his sights on her, how can she possibly resist?
The book was previously published under the title Take Two.
Dark hair, blue eyes. Hot, famous, playboy, actor. Avoids relationships, in favor of no-strings attached flings to focus on career. He’s sweet but cocky, smart but misguided about love thanks to his parents history. Very easy to fall in love with even when he’s being a jerk. Some of the things he said had me in stitches.About Maddie:
Brown hair, brown eyes. Film school graduate, currently working as an assistant camera operator with aspirations to produce and direct her own films. She’s just trying to make it in the film industry after making a mistake in the very beginning of her career, resulting in the shunning from a famous director. She doesn’t do flings.
About the Secondary Characters:
Sam, PA that harbors a crush on Maddie. Lulu, Micah’s mom. Fudge, Micah’s bodyguard and my favorite (Can Fudge get his own book please?). Bree, Maddie’s wild childhood best friend, who just happens to be Beaumont’s assistant. Adam, Maddie’s boss. Beaumont, pompous director.
About the story:
Micah and Maddie had a chance encounter right after Maddie graduated college but nothing ever came of it. Flash forward 7 years and they end up working on the same film together. The sexual tension between them is plentiful. Micah wants to have a casual fling with Maddie to get her out of his system. Again, Maddie doesn’t do flings. Can Micah change her mind or are they destined for more?
How I felt about it:
I loved this story. I laughed throughout the whole thing and at one point was almost in tears. This story is pretty low on angst but the ride is anything but smooth. I connected with all of the characters and of course swooned over Micah. But, I really enjoyed Maddie because she knew what she wanted and wasn’t willing to budge in the long run. Compromise, yes, but she stuck to her guns. Plus there is that one scene in the beginning of the book where she “pays up” for what she owes. Yeah that was pretty awesome.
I want to read more about Fudge though, I think he deserves his own story. I’m willing to campaign for this!!
The story is very well written. Told in 3rd person from alternating POVs, I was really drawn into the story with the descriptions of Maddie’s job as camera operator and the different aspects of the film-making process. I was really able to get a good grasp on Micah’s playful personality, as well as his softer side.
Another great story from Laurelin Paige that you need to pick up today!
My favorite romances to read are friends to lovers, second chance romance, and lifelong love stories. I read mostly YA, NA and contemporary but I've been known to enjoy a good erotica romance now and again. I enjoy sex in books but it's not required for me to enjoy a story. Too much sex can be worse than none, in my opinion.
I don't really enjoy books with love triangles and/or cheating, and I don't read a lot of paranormal/fantasy or suspense books.
On any given day you'll find me camped out on my couch with my Kindle in one hand, a Mountain Dew in the other, the tv on in the background (Food Network or Hallmark Channel) with one or both of my kids and my husband trying to get me to answer them about when we might eat again.
